Once a girl is born into the Miao family in the region of Guangxi in southern China, the parents immediately begin saving money for her wedding dress, especially for the silver headdress decorated with a long-tailed bird. Such a cap could weigh up to ten kilograms, and only invention of lightweight aluminum imitations allows the Hmong to avoid bankruptcy today. In our collection is shown this imitation; such a headdress can be seen during ceremonies, weddings, religious festivals and traditional dances of the Miao girls. Married women are not allowed to wear those.
