This black round-brimmed velvet hat became quite famous across Spain despite the fact it is only typical for the small town of Calañas in Huelva province of Andalucia. It was originally worn by peasants, both men and women, who left the secret of its weird design deep in history. A low conic shape, thick brim and a custom to wear it a bit on the side are all necessary attributes of the sombrero. Spain, Calañas, 20th cent.
