Shushut

One of the two types of women's headwear of the unique Kalasha people who live in isolation in northern Pakistan; they have preserved their ancient culture and religion. Unlike the more festive kupas, the shushut is worn routinely and virtually never removed from the head, even during fieldwork or laundry. To prevent the headdress decorated with kilograms of beads from falling from head the Kalasha girls braid a special pigtail on the forehead, extending upwards and backwards fixing the shushut perfectly.
