On the islands west of Estonia the traditional attire is still a part of everyday culture, and antique shops present some examples of fine embroidery work - like this one from the island of Saaremaa. Its basis is made of carton, covered by white cotton cloth which was embroidered by hand with colourful flower patterns. Such tall headdresses had their own ornaments in each of the island's villages. Estonia, Saaremaa, Mustjala, 19th cen.
