Male

The name of this summer hat comes from four symmetrical U-shaped flaps, making this piece look like the treukh; it is a very common kind of hats in Central Asia (this is where it came to Russia from). Naxi (in some places it is also called the ‘usha-pahr’) is usually made of black or blue woolen cloth decorated with gold satin patterns in the form of leaves or wavy lines. Men’s Naxi is cylindrical in shape and it has a fairly high crown, while women’s tend to be lower and slightly oval. Naxis are common in all regions of Tibet being the most distinctive headdress throughout the Himalayas.
