Peru
Nation:
Quechua
Female

It is in Raqchi in Kanchis province in southern Peru, where one of the main shrines of the ancient Incas, the huge temple of Viracocha is located. Actually, the name is rather symbolical, because no one knows when and in whose honor the Incas built this grand complex. However, there still remain vast warehouses for grain and even the stone-paved road leading to Cusco, the capital of the Great Inca. Women in Raqchi make their Montero of wool, dyed in bright yellow, with a multicolor patterns of lace and embroidery. The cross, which shape can be seen on the hat is probably of Christian origin.
