The famous turban, which usually appears in the media worn by the famous head of the Taliban, Mullah Omar, is a sheet of dense silk fabric of the length of about five feet, which is wrapped around a soft peaked black cap. Most often, the turban is not monotone black but contains inserts or stitching of silver or white thread. In recent years, however the black turban became the characteristic headgear of the Taliban.
