A peculiar hat with four prominent corners - krakuska - is an integral part of the national costume of residents of the Polish town of Krakow and the surrounding areas. The town has a dramatic and unique history; it was the capital of Poland in the middle ages; it had been part of Austria and even an independent state. This, of course, could not leave the originality of the costume unaffected. The dwellers of Krakow are justifiably proud that it became the prototype of the famous krakuska or rogatywka or konfederatka, whihch is an asymmetrical, peaked, four-pointed cap of the Polish Army to this day. Although, of course, soldiers had to abandon the astrakhan band and stylish peacock feather. Poland, Krakow.
