In the Indian tradition carrying water from the well to the house is essentially women’s job and buckets here are usually worn on the head. The Rabari women in the Indian state of Gujarat came up with an elegant solution, creating a headwear, whose main function is to serve as a beautiful and elegant rest for a bucket of water. A specially sewn back occipital "tail” adds elegance to what was once only a twisted rag on top. India, Gujarat, Kachchh.
