This is another type of a peasant headdress made of bamboo; such a headdress is fairly common in Laos and Burma, though this time around it is used more for protection from the sun rather than from the rain, given the serious gaps between the tied stems. On top a ferrule cut from a tin can, completes the ensemble. This particular hat was purchased right in the rice field from an astonished peasant, whom I approached walking over the farmland. She was ready to fight for her life, but I only asked for a hat. Both of us never regretted about the transaction.Laos, Luang Prabang.
