Fesi is the traditional and most popular headgear in Greece; it is a cap with a red tassel related to the Turkish fez. Men’s fesi are typically smaller in size than women’s (and understandably so as women’s headdress has to hide their lush hair). The bottom band that has stitched patterns and a yellow double trim wraps the head tighter than the upper part of the cap. It is such fesi that wear the famous Greek Guards parading in their shoes with huge pompons in front of the Parliament in Syntagma Square in Athens. Greece, 20th cent.
