Fam Tsing is the name of shaman's crown among the Dao. A small ethnic group of the Dao of people living in the province of Thai Nguyen in the north of Vietnam is known as the "Dao in tight pants” because of their peculiar traditional costume. The shaman headdress presented in our collection is peculiar too - if only because it is made of thick whitewashed fabric with images of demons and Taoist saints. The crown bears distinct traces of influence of the Chinese tradition, which is dominant in the whole region of northern Vietnam.
