Chepets

A silk girl’s cap. The bonnet was a common headdress for children, but at home it could be worn by adult women as well. It was decorated with ruffles, ribbons, lace, artificial flowers, and was usually made from delicate silk to cover hair at night.  Russia, Volga region, 19th cent.
