Bride's fes

Under the Greek influence in Macedonia the cap is called fez; in different variations it is worn by both men and women. The Fez is made on solid cardboard base so that it can always preserve its form and its top is covered with red velvet cloth or other valuable fabric. The Fez worn for the wedding is decorated with coins or gold embroidery, the bride's head on top is to be covered by the shamia, a scarf of different colors depending on the region.North Macedonia, Mavrovo, early 20th cent.
